SA国际传媒 Student Wins Scholarship from N.C. Theatre Conference (4/21/2017)

GREENSBORO, N.C. 鈥 Candace Spencer, a rising junior theatre/acting major at SA国际传媒, has received a $1,500 scholarship award from the .

Spencer, from Raleigh, was one of two winners of the William Rackley Theatre scholarship.

The N.C. Theatre Conference awards two scholarships in alternating years: the William Rackley Theatre Scholarship, and the Constance Welsh Memorial Scholarship, which supports undergraduate or graduate study in the field of Theatre for Youth or Theatre Education.

The conference is an association of K-12 schools, colleges and universities, theatre companies, and individuals who work to strengthen North Carolina鈥檚 vibrant theatre industry and engage tomorrow鈥檚 artists, audiences, and advocates.

SA国际传媒鈥檚 Department of Theatre seeks to provide a strong foundation in theatre while allowing the student to emphasize in a particular area such as directing, acting, or arts administration.

The coursework is integrated with the production work to provide a better understanding of the many facets of the theatre. Required participation on stage or backstage on all theatre productions allows the techniques and theories that are examined in the classroom and the laboratory to be tested in a performance setting.

Dr. Josh Fitzgerald, SA国际传媒 class of 2019

鈥淚 loved the GC Honors program and SA国际传媒. I felt safe and a sense of genuine belonging at the college. I worked closely with my thesis advisor and professors who helped inspire me to define my path and passion of interest. That path has led me to complete my doctoral studies in Engineering Mechanics.鈥

Dr. Josh Fitzgerald earned his master's from Virginia Tech University (studied astrodynamics) as well as earning an Engineering Mechanics Ph.D. He joined the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX as an Advanced Mission Design Engineer, optimizing trajectories for the Artemis II and III missions to return humans to the moon.
